I was actually pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this assignment. It goes without saying, that it looks a lot difficult than it is. I enjoyed the planning process, and coming up with ideas of how to show a journey and also hearing other peoples different ideas as it shows how people think.
Me and Tessa went through a series of different and separate ideas which we both elaborated on individually. My ideas were things such as walking to college and showing how I got there and also showing a plant grow into a flower. Eventually, we both decided on an idea which we both liked, which was showing a cheesecake being made. From it being supposedly 'born' to it 'dieing'. I found this increasingly difficult to think of completely different ideas but all still obviously relating to a 'journey'. Some of my ideas were better than others as the plant one would have taken a few weeks to wait for the plant to grow and flower and it would have taken too long. Although the end result would be quite interesting, I would have had to make sure that the camera was in the exact same place every time with the exact same light, given quite a long period of time, I would like to one day do something like this as I think if it is done properly, the end result would look really good. With the walking one, I thought it would be a bit boring and hard to video my feet travelling all the way to college and to make it run smoothly. It would look quite good, but it'd get boring after a bit and the minute would drag out even with music added to it. I still researched and developed my ideas to see how easy they would be to do and why I liked them for future reference.
I am quite happy with this final piece, as when I was imagining what it was going to look like, I didn't think it would be this smooth or fit as well. I like how well the music fits with it and how it helps the video run, the music distracts you from the video enough to not notice any mistakes or slow-moving bits as it is quite a well known song that people will sing along to in their heads. I was really surprised with how well music helps the video run and makes it a lot more entertaining to watch and using a well known song will leave people singing a lot to it afterwards leaving a memorable mark on them. I enjoyed doing this as the planning, filming and editing process was all quite straight forward as I knew straight away what I wanted to do.
