Choosing a song

Before I had even begun editing, I knew right away that I didn't want the video to just be silent and other than somebody giving instructions or explaining what they were doing, there would be no sound.

After some thought, I decided that having someone give instructions would be far too boring and as it is quite a drawn out process I wanted it to be fun, this meant choosing a song which was relative and that people were familiar with.

I went through a series of different cake songs in my head, but only one was springing to mind. This song was 'If I knew you were coming I'd have baked a cake' done by Georgia Gibbs. After listening to it several times to familiarise with it I began working out where I wanted certain areas in the song to fall in with the video. I think this song is perfect for the video as it is simple to remember, catchy and uplifts it and makes it really fun. I would not have liked the final production no where near as much as it wasn't for this song to make it more enjoyable to watch.

The only problems I had really with this was trying to get certain parts of the song to happen at the same time as something that suited the sound. A lot of this happened with luck, and the song would drop in the right places as to when something important is happening. However, a lot of it required a lot of editing so that the tune made sense with the cake being made.
